It was learned that the treatment, which was launched as an antibody treatment applied in the first period of Alzheimer's, was designed to clear the substance called 'beta amyloid' formed in the brains of Alzheimer's patients.

'First time successful'
prof. Dr. Topçular explained the study as follows: “There are two parameters. One of them can slow down the disease by 35 percent, or even up to 40 percent in some patients when you look at the subgroups.
More importantly, nearly half (47 percent) of those on active therapy who participated in the study did not worsen at all for one year. Normally, Alzheimer's is a progressive disease.
Even within a year we see some progress. For the first time, a drug has stabilized the disease for a year. It was successful in half of the patients. It is a very satisfying result.”
Ineffective in others
Officials in the UK said the drug only works for Alzheimer's disease, not for other types of dementia, such as vascular dementia.
Noting that the drug is only effective in Alzheimer's patients, it is not effective in other types of dementia. Dr. Topçular also said: “Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. It accounts for 65-70% of all dementias.
Apart from this, there are other diseases that cause dementia. This drug is not effective in other causes of dementia other than Alzheimer's. It's only effective for Alzheimer's. These results are also for the early stage of Alzheimer's disease. The effect is very minimal in patients with advanced stages.If you make an early diagnosis and start early treatment, it seems that you can get good results. There are many factors in the disease.
